    Love this telescope
The telescope comes with a carry bag which is super convenient for campers like me. Love it so far

So far so good. Haven’t tried to take an image through the telescope yet.

Basic, but well put together and a good value
This doesn’t have a huge lens to see detail of tiny stars but it’s great for the moon as it gets detail there without being so close you can’t tell what you’re looking at.
I appreciate the handle to adjust the angle gently.

a fantastic starter telescope! Now let’s find them aliens!
At 400mm this telescope is a great start at learning the working of a telescope and bypassing the challenges of larger scopes. Setup required no tools, but watching the accompanying YouTube video a couple times will get it up and going. The telescope and eyepieces were sturdy and the glass was very clear. I guess I expected all plastic and fuzzy views given I was not familiar with the brand. But there are glass elements and the phone scope adapter was pretty useful. The Bluetooth remote was a little gimmicky, but I can understand not wanting to shake a scope when trying to capture an image. I was not able to see Saturn very well at all, but the moon was a great place to view, this is to be expected with a 400mm. Overall a very sturdy start if you’re looking into looking to the night sky.

    Great first telescope.
This is a fantastic budget option for a first telescope for kids. The optics are going to be fine for kids. The overall quality is decent but not great. Everything is on the flimsy side, especially the tripod. The optics when assembled are pretty easy to come out of alignment with any pressure. The eye relief with the Barlow tube was pretty difficult.

All of those complaints aside, the kids were blown away by their first close-up view of the moon, and that made all of those complaints vanish. If you have a sturdy tripod, I highly recommend starting with that from the beginning.

But it’s a great price point for a kid’s first closer look at the universe beyond.

Adult help will be needed for young kids
Be patient. This is easy to set up but a bit time-consuming. Not a fast, spur-of-the-moment thing to do with limited time. Make sure you have time to use it. The image view quality is good, and the phone adapter is ok. This system will require patience to use and get set up properly. The tripod wobbles at the slightest touch, so if taking photos using this, make sure to use the timer on your phone to allow all the wobble to stop. The telescope can be mounted on a larger, more robust tripod for better stability, which could help a lot. I recommend using some software like StarWalk (what I use) to get an idea of where the object to be viewed is located and focus on getting the telescope pointed at that object. Practice a bit with this telescope during daylight hours, so you are familiar with its use before trying to see something in space.

    I love my telescope 🔭
I love my telescope. So the set up is pretty easy especially because there is a QR code you can scan and watch the video that will help you assemble the telescope. I adore how the pieces are all individually wrapped so everything is neatly placed. The telescope it self is very light weight and easy to move about. The height adjusters are on the legs of the telescope are pretty easy to use, so it can be taller or higher. Other than that,I love that this comes with a bag so you can put it away when it is not in use. It took me a while to get use to adjusting the lenses to find what I was looking for in the sky, but once I got over that this device will show very clear images of the moon and stars. I think this telescope is best for beginners and kids especially. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed this telescope and I know others will as well! 5/5

The telescope is cheap. It’s a great beginner one to start off with. The small side scope makes everything upside down so it has a lens messed up I guess. I have it away. I was able to take a few pics with the moon.

I have had the AstroLite 70 for about 6 months now and can give an evaluation of it’s performance. It has proven to be quite good as a rich field telescope. With a 25mm plossl I’m looking at a 16x with a true field of view of over 4 degrees, excellent for open clusters. Even with the supplied MA20mm eyepiece you are looking at 20x with a 2.5 degree field that is sharp and clear.
What has surprised me was how well it does when pushed to higher magnifications. With a 4mm eyepiece it is at 100x and has provided fine views of Saturn and lately Jupiter. On exceptional nights I have added a 1.5X barlow, and while a bit dim, it still turns out a credible image.
The cost savings are obvious with a plastic focusing body, however, this is a plastic focuser done right. With adjustments it is wobble and lash free and is smooth throughout it’s travel.
Okay, here is the kicker. I have a high quality 70mm F6 ED scope that cost about 6X the current price of this telescope, yes, the higher priced refractor has a two speed focuser and wonderfully solid construction. But comparing the two, side by side, there just isn’t much difference in the presented image using the same eyepiece.
Not sorry I bought the more expensive 70mm, but I’ll never give up my AstroLite 70, and if it was all I had I would not feel deprived.

I have a few things to add to the above report.
The AstroLite 70 is actually two telescopes (many RFT’s are) If you come up against a night with not so great seeing you can pull the middle lens cap and have a 40mm f10 telescope. When looking at bright planets and especially the moon this will clean up the image and reduce false color to nothing.
I also have to put in a plug for the ExploraPro AZ mount supplied with that series of telescopes. I bought an ExploraPro 70mm maksutov a few months before I bought the 70mm AstroLite. I use the Astro on the ExploraPro mount and it works great on that mount.
